Richard Carbajal, affectionately known as Pops and Grandpa, born in Miami, AZ on October 8, 1936, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of passion, strength, and love. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, a beloved grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished brother. Born to Manuel Carbajal and Eufemia Vega, Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War, stationed on the USS DeKalb County. His service was a testament to his dedication and bravery, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life. A tireless provider for his family, Richard often worked two or three jobs to ensure their well-being. His work ethic and dedication were evident throughout his life, from his early years to his retirement in the late '90s. Even then, he couldn't stay idle, taking on roles with the US Census Bureau and later at Walmart in Tulare, where he worked for many years in various positions. Richard found great joy in working at the swap meet, where he could walk around, engage with people, and share stories. His ability to connect with others and his ever-present humor made him a beloved figure in the community. He was always ready with a joke, bringing laughter and warmth to those around him. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Carbajal and Eufemia Vega; his siblings Pilar, Pedro, John, Anna, Petra, and Irene; and his sons Richard and George. He leaves behind his loving wife, Elpidia; his five children: Maria, Guadalupe, Rigoberto, Rachel, and Reina; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and his siblings Issac and Billie. He was a man who loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. Richard's legacy of hard work, dedication, and humor will be remembered by all who knew him.
