Pauline Bootz Obituary
Pauline Bootz went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2020. She was born on February 9, 1932 to Steven and Anna Shefcheck in Crucible, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Cumberland Township High School in 1950. In 1954 she married Stephen Bootz and they had four children, Paulette, Stephen, Marianne and Karen. She graduated from the University of West Virginia in 1960. In 1962 her and her husband and then three children moved to California. They would have their 4th child in California. She worked 30+ years as an accountant. Twenty of those years she worked for Kings View.
In addition to being devoted to her family she spent countless hours volunteering for St. Rita’s Catholic Church. For over 10 years she ran a weekly Bingo that enabled the addition on the Church to be built. She served as a CCD Teacher, Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She worked numerous Knights of Columbus events and she was a huge advocate for the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was a two time Regent for Court St. Gerard #1958 and started Court St. Rita #2610 in 2008 where she also served as Regent. She did countless projects for the California State Catholic Daughters while serving as the Executive Assistant to her daughter Karen Bootz from 2014-2019.
She raised money for any cause that crossed her path including an orphanage in Mexico in the 1990’s where they would caravan down gifts and clothes and shoes for a girls orphanage in Ensenada.
Anyone who knew Pauline knew she was a perfectionist and wanted whatever she did to be bigger and better than anyone else. She had a saying that “it only cost a nickel more to go first class.” She was inspired in grade school by a geography teacher to travel and that she did. She and her husband traveled to major shrines like Lourdes and Fatima. They traveled across the US and up and down the West Coast in their motor home.
She loved Bingo but mostly she was a devoutly spiritual person who had an extreme devotion to the Divine Mercy of Jesus and the Blessed Mother. She devoted her life to taking care of those less fortunate than herself.
In addition to being a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas she was also a member of the Altar Society, Guadalupanas and the Young Ladies Institute.
She is preceded in death by her husband Stephen Bootz, her mother and father, brother Johnny Shefcheck, and sister Helen Hart.
She is survived by her children, Paulette Acheson, Stephen Bootz, Marianne Spinella (Michael) and Karen Bootz. Her grandchildren Michael Acheson (Anupama) and Michelle Spinella, her great grandson Arun Acheson and her brothers Michael Shefcheck and George Shefcheck.
She was a beautiful person and she will be missed by all of those who loved her.
