Opal Lee Stephens passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on May 21rst 2022.
Opal Stephens was born on April 30, 1935, to the late Fred and Daisy Jones in Benson, Louisiana on April 30, 1935. She attended school in Louisiana. It was shortly after school that she met her husband James Stephens and together, they formed their union and went on to have 5 children Linda, Glenda, James, Glenn, and Vernice. Opal accepted Christ at an early age. She held an unwavering faith in God that she shared with those who surrounded her and she instilled this in her children as well. Following marriage, Opal and James moved out of Louisiana initially residing in Klamath Falls Oregon before settling in their home in Corcoran California. In Corcoran Opal found her church home at St James Baptist Church where she was a devoted member for over 40 years. Opal dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother and taking care of her home she raised her children with patience discipline and good moral. She made it her mission to provide care for others in both her professional and home life and consistently supported her children in all their many endeavors. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother and wife Opal was employed as a caregiver for over 10 years. In her spare time, you could find Opal being crafty sewing different clothing items and blankets or whipping up meals in the kitchen, her family would always look forward to her delicious fried chicken and many pound cakes. Opal was kind, soft spoken and her home was always filled with warmth and love, as her family grew Opal enjoyed being able to provide care for and watch over her great grandchildren.
Opal was predeceased by her husband James Stephens sister Jessie Lee Lofton, brother Freddie Jones, Fuller Jones, Leroy Jones, Royal Jones, Ben Jones, Edgar Jones and Curtis Jones, she is survived by her brother Wiley Jones, children Linda, Glenda, James, Glen and Vernice , grandchildren Brian, Andrea (Seamus) , Shanell, Amanda, LaDana (Haig) , Frederick Jr , Steven and Terrell, 8 great grandchildren, and many numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
