Mary Ann Contreras Ochoa

Mary Ann passed away October 18, 2019 at the age of 69 in Fresno, California. She was the 8th child out of 12 born to Jose Contreras and Mary Chavez in Tulare, CA. Mary Ann was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. Mary Ann grew up in Tulare where she attended Tulare City schools. She graduated in 1969 from Tulare Western High School, afterwards attending College of Sequoias. Mary Ann moved to the Bay Area in the early 70's where she worked at various jobs before moving back to Tulare in 1989 with her two sons. Mary Ann worked at Kaweah Delta Hospital as a receptionist. She loved spending time with her family and her friends, cooking, listening to good music and dancing. She loved spending time watching Disney movies and the old classic movies with her niece Alvina Lizardo.
Mary Ann has 2 sons, Jesus Ochoa his wife Maria of Vellejo, CA and Adolfo Ochoa, Jr. of Richmond, CA. The family is comforted to know she is reunited with her parents Mary and Jose; three brothers, Louie Garcia, Hank Garcia and Joe Contreras, Jr.; one sister, Mary Esther Portgul.
Mary Ann is survived by her two sons, Jesus Ochoa (Maria) of Vellejo CA and Adolfo Ochoa, Jr., of Richmond, CA; her sisters, Mary Lou Hernandez, Irene Gutierrez (Juan), Mary Ellen Chacon, Elvina Alvarado, Mary Jane (Cookie)Torres (Steve) and Mary Kathryn Contreras (Robert Trujillo); all of Tulare, CA; four grandchildren, Jesus Ochoa Jr., Steven Ochoa, Jenni Ochoa and Bryan Ochoa, all of Vallejo, CA; her uncle, Pete Chavez; her aunt, Sarah Fernandez and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church on Friday, October 25, 2019, viewing from 10:00 am – 11:00 am; Rosary and Mass to follow.
