It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Manuel David Godinho, who left this world on November 16, 2024, just one day shy of his 80th birthday. Born on November 17, 1944, in Terceira, Azores, Manuel was a beloved husband, father; grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Manuel is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Maria Celeste; his cherished daughter, Mary Elizabeth; son-in-law, Anthony Baltazar; and his two adored grandchildren, David and Isabella Baltazar. He is also survived by his sisters, Arlete and Mavilde, along with their respective husbands, Jose and Manuel. Additionally, Manuel leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He was a proud and loving father and grandfather, whose family was the center of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Borges Godinho and Livia De Sao Pedro, and his brother, Adelino, who are waiting for him with open arms.

An immigrant to the United States, Manuel dedicated much of his life to working as a dairy worker, contributing to his community in Tulare, California, where he made his home. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often listening to Cantoria and tending to his vegetables and fruit trees. Manuel was also a gifted poet, expressing his thoughts and feelings through his own verses, which will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.

Manuel's kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A viewing will be held at Sterling & Smith Funeral Home on December 9th from 3:00pm – 5:45pm. The Recitation of the Rosary with is on December 9th at 6:00pm at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Tulare. The Mass of the Resurrection will take place at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Tulare on December 10, 2024 at 10:30a.m. Interment will be at the North Tulare Public Cemetery. 

Sterling & Smith Funeral Home of Tulare, CA is assisting the family with arrangements. The Godinho family wishes to express their gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time.
