Luis Alberto Briseno

Luis Alberto Briseno blessed this world with his arrival on March 7, 1980 in

Fresno, CA. He was the 4 th child born to Teresa Gomes Hernandez and Daniel

Rojas Briseno. Along side his siblings Corina, Joseph, Daniel Jr., Mary Lou, and

Hilary Herrera.  Luis filled the life’s of those around him with wisdom and love.

During his youngest years he lived in Bakersfield, CA with his mother

Teresa where he expanded his family circle with Leticia, Richard, Adam and

Hilary as his siblings. Here he surrounded himself with family and love even as a

young child and carried these values into his adult life.

As Luis continued to grow into his teenage years, he moved to Fresno where

he attended Tenaya and Bullard High for a short time.  Luis continued his education

at Caruthers High School, where he met many of his friends and built lifelong friendships.

While he was learning to become aresponsible young man he discovered he had an interest

for food and cooking while helping the family business, Danny’s Donuts and Mexican Restaurant.

As he continued to work with the family through his young adult life he ventured off to

explore other exciting new adventures and expanded his knowledge. This new

adventured turned out to be the Lime Lite, where he made close friends, all whom

he came to call family.

Cooking wasn’t the only thing Luis loved, for he had a way of bringing

people together through the best of times as well as the toughest of times. As Luis

continued to build his friendship he also continued to build strong children and

young adults whom he had the opportunity to coach. As a child, Luis struggled with

his diabetes and joined a great summer program at Bear Mountain Camp who

helped children and young adults with similar backgrounds. He came to love and

appreciate the work these individuals did for the community and when he was

offered an opportunity to give back to his community by becoming a counselor at

Bear Mountain Camp, he didn’t hesitate to rise to the occasion.

Luis Alberto never married or have children of his own, but that never

stopped him from continuing to grow his family. He loved children so much that

he considered his nephews and nieces as his own. He guided them throughout their

ups and downs. Loved them for their best qualities and their worst defects. Today

his nephews and nieces; Alberto Corchado, Rebecca Corchado, Vanessa Corchado,

Jonathon Bairos, Jordan Bairos, Jonathon Briseno, Nellie Briseno, Jasmine

Morales, Henry Morales, Mariah Morales, Mia Herrera, Saria Herrera, Aleenah

Herrera, and Neveah Herrera, can share the knowledge, wisdom and values he

taught them with love for others to follow.

Luis would spend hours of conversation with his nephews and nieces in

person as well over the phone about family, work, values, faith and among other

topics. Distance never stopped Luis when it came to family. He always found a

way to visit them and give them his best even when he was at his worst. He would

travel to Bakersfield, Los Angeles and even across the world if it meant to see his

loved ones.

Just as Luis loved children, they loved him back. The patience and

personality Luis had made children seek him out as a friend, a playmate, and role

model. Unconditional love is what he offered and we all felt it. It didn’t stop with

just his nephews and nieces but also reach his great nephews and great nieces;

Marrisah Estrada, Daniel Corchado, Jose Estrada, Brooklyn Reitz, Isaiah Calles,

Jayvier Calles, Isavier Calles, Mesiah Calles, Jeremiah Morales, and Emmary

Morales. Fortunately these children came to know him and share precious

moments with him that we will never forget. Things like playing wrestling with the

boys to going on trips with everyone and watch over them. He was a very

protective uncle who would never stop or say no to play time no matter what

obstacles stood in his way.

Hanging out with his brother, Daniel Jr., at the casino or just watching the

news, like his dad, were just of the few things he enjoyed. We watched him get

upset at the television and start talking back at it, just like his father, to making

waitresses jobs difficult when we ate out. When it came to food, if it wasn’t made

the way he wanted it he would send it back. From his years as a cook at the Lime

Lite and experience he would always give his family tips and tricks for a better

dish. Nothing was off limits, his knowledge was his gift to us.

And guns; “what about them?” you ask. If he could own every single one of

them, he would’ve. Shooting would put a smile on his face even when he tried to

hide it. He was proud of his collection and shared it with friends and family. He

always slept with his gun under his pillow even though his brother hated it.

Teaching someone to shoot a gun responsibly brought him joy. He knew that

spending time with friends and family even if it was just shooting guns brought

them closer together to catch up about their everyday life and pour his wisdom

onto them.

When it came to music Luis was just unique. His music taste varied from die

hard country fan to Little Wane and everything in between. He grew up listening to

Spanish music with his parents and other elders and came to enjoy and appreciate

it. We would listen to his play list where is started with something like country and

when you least expected it, it would go into something completely different like

Korn and then to something like Vicente Fernandez; throwing everyone off guard.

He enjoyed going to concerts and always carried his headphones. He didn’t leave

his headphones behind no matter where he went or for how long he was out. You

can say music was his way of life.

Luis Alberto was the strongest person known. He was there for those who

needed him. From his temper to his kind heartedness, he was loved. He opened his

heart and expecting nothing in return. He was looked up to for he kept a positive

outlook at all times. He has left us with wonderful experiences to remember and

his words of wisdom will never be forgotten.

“for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever

believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16
