Lue Easter Walker

Lue Easter often said her greatest joy and biggest responsibility to God was being a good parent to her boys. Through the years the brothers agreed their Mom was successful in that trust!

When Lue became a single parent, she was very creative in finding work that would allow her to be home as much as possible.

To support her little family, Lue worked selling insurance, representing Lena Horne and Avon cosmetics, catering private events, working for Fresno Unified School System as an assistant teacher at Franklin and Lincoln elementary schools and in the retail field, was among the first African American women hired to sell couture fashions at Fresno’s high end retail store, I Magnin and Company. She was later told by her supervisor that her innate fashion sense, poised speech and manner got her the job. When she entered the store. she was thought to be a customer, not an applicant!

Soon after with this in mind, Lue Easter successfully became co-proprietor of her own dress shop in west Fresno called “Dominiques”

When her sons became adults, Lue Easter began a career she would work until retirement as a private duty nurse. She received numerous accolades and awards from her agency and client’s families for loving care of her patients.

Always a woman of Olympian faith, at retirement Lue Easter became a committed prayer warrior. Until the end of her life she accepted petitions of prayer from far and wide. She rejoiced at every praise report! When 80 years young, Lue Easter Walker authored a book chronicling testimonies of faith entitled “Bridge Over Troubled and Transient Waters.

The sun set for Lue Easter Walker the final time peacefully in her sleep, as she desired it would, on November 15th, 2021.
