Jimmy Pena

Jim (Jimmy) Peña, age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 19, 2023, after his brief and brave battle with cancer.

Jim was born on March 3, 1954, in Tulare, CA. Jim’s parents raised him in Tulare along with his 5 brothers and 3 sisters, where he graduated from Tulare Union High School. After high school, Jim remained in Tulare, finding work and dedicating his life to serving Jehovah through baptism in 1970. While serving Jehovah, he met a loving and devoted servant of Jehovah, Maria Carabay, at Bible book study, whom he fell in love with and eventually married in January of 1979. Jim worked hard to care for his wife “Spring Chicken,” and their three children. Jim was a loving husband and father who told great jokes, loved singing and dancing to "his music," and found so much joy in sharing stories, such as the fish-con while camping at Pismo with his family. Jim worked at Tulare City Transit until he could no longer walk, and even in the hospital, he told his family he planned on returning to work for just a few more years. In addition to his parents (Jim and Mary), Jim is predeceased by his brother David Peña, sister Gloria Mendoza, brothers-in-law Santos and Lorenzo Carabay, and sister-in-law Eva Carabay. Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Pena, daughter Roxanne (her 5 children: Gavin, Andrew, Machela, Chloe, and Bryson), daughter Cecilia (her 2 children: Jalissa and Justin), and son Jimmy Adrian (wife Laura and his 3 boys: Jonah, Noah, and Caleb) plus 7 great-grandchildren, his brother's Richard, Mark (Cynthia), Paul and Sam and sisters Ruth and Liz, and sister-in-law’s Martha, Pilar (Arturo), Juana, and Ofelia as well as many nephews and nieces. All of his family he loved and touched deeply.

The family welcomes all who loved Jim to his Remembrance Services held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1142 W Tulare Ave, Tulare, CA 93274, and the funeral reception at the Meitzenheimer Community Center 830 S Blackstone St, Tulare, CA 93274 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
