James Earl Morning was born to Augusta Hooks and Richard Morning on September 12, 1965 in Pixley, California. James was born with a birth defect and was placed in foster care with Lester and Effie Barbara Holt in Tulare, California for the remainder of his minor years. Since the Holts already had one son named James, James Morning became known as “Baby Jimmy” and later “Little Jimmy.”
The Holt family were of the Apostolic faith and raised Little Jimmy up in that faith. Jimmy attended Mt. Zion Temple in Tulare, California during his youth. He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost as a child under the pastorate of Elder Homer Rushing. Jimmy attended Tulare City Schools and graduated from Tulare Union High School.
Jimmy loved to talk. He would talk to anyone and always enjoyed joking and laughing. He enjoyed reading books and his Bible, watching documentaries on television, especially about animals in the wild and talking on the phone to friends and relatives. When he was healthy, he would walk from Tulare to Visalia for exercise.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his foster parents, his wife, Ruth Loring and his foster brother, Lester David Holt, Jr.
To cherish his memories are his biological siblings: Lois Morning of Seattle, WA, Loretta Morning of Tulare, CA, Lynetta Morning and James Morning of Bakersfield, CA, Donsha Morning of Texas; foster siblings: Barbara Golstein of San Jose, CA, Effie Belle Franklin (Derrick) of Clovis, CA, James Holt (Sharon) of Porterville, CA, Geneva Wilson and Joyce Graham of Tulare, CA and numerous relatives, friends and Mt. Zion Temple Church and Grace Apostolic Church families. The family appreciates the support of Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA and Fresno Community Regional Medical Center and their staff. A special thanks to Dr. Gordon K. Lee of Stanford Hospital, who made himself available to Jimmy and his sister Barbara around the clock. Dr. Lee is truly a kind and caring physician.
