Jack attended school in Tulare including Roosevelt Elementary, Mulcahy Middle School, and graduated from Tulare Western High School where he played the saxophone and football. He worked in Tulare County as a sanitation worker for several years until his retirement, all while playing saxophone in several bands that included Soulful Seven, Touch, Bad Habits, and August. He was a devoted San Francisco Giants fan, loved the Raiders through thick and thin, and cheered on his Oregon Ducks. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Joaquin and Pauline Duran. He is survived by his loving and caring wife Noelia Duran, his sisters Linda Duran, Gloria Vasquez, Pauline Moreno, (all of Tulare), Anna Maria Duran (Visalia), and Diana Salinas (Santa Barbara). He is also survived by his daughter and son in law Tina & Kevin Philpot, his son and daughter in law Jack Jr. & Emily Duran, his son and daughter in law Nick & Crystal Duran, step daughter and son in law Patricia & Art Hernandez (Visalia), step daughter and son in law Beatrice & Juan Trevino (Visalia), and step daughters Marsha Angulo and Liza Angulo. In addition to his siblings and children, Jack is survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren that he loved very much, and many nieces and nephews that he always enjoyed telling stories from his life. Jack loved his family and held all that was part of it close to his heart. There was not a stranger to Jack as he always was willing to clearly introduce himself to anyone that entered a room. He cherished his endless amount of friends and enjoyed reminiscing about times that he spent with them. Those that were blessed to speak with him could easily see that he was the glue to his relationships with family and friends and he will be missed dearly by all.
