Elvin “Stoney” Gene Eastland-Johnson Sr. was a man of many things. Born December 22, 1959 in Tulare, CA at the Tulare County Hospital. He was born to the Parents of Mary Marchbanks and Marvin Carl Johnson and raised by his stepfather, John Henry Eastland. Elvin lived an eventful life throughout California, from migrating with his family throughout the valley of Teviston, Pixley, Tulare Santa Rosa, Lompoc to name a few. Which in Lompoc Elvin and his brother and sister were known as the Fleetwood Brother’s and stone sisters, considering him and his brother’s always drove Fleetwood Cadillac’s and the sister followed the name after Elvin “Stoney”. During his adult years he lived in Stockton, CA then back to Santa Rosa and eventually resided back to hometown of Tulare, CA. Elvin “Stoney” attended many elementary schools in Tulare, he then graduated from Tulare Western High School in 1978. Where he later attended San Joaquin Delta College. Where he was an excellent basketball player, right along with his special friend Ricky Windbush. And was member of the “Black Student Union.” Elvin “Stoney” was well known wherever he was at. You could see him walking or riding his bike throughout the city.
Elvin was always dancing and listening to music as well giving his words of wisdom and always talking about the goodness of the Lord. As mention before Elvin was a man of many things, he has many family members, many, many children and even many names. A lot you may have called him Elvin “Stoney”, Alvin or maybe even John Jeffery (his alias). Not only did he have many names He also provided nicknames for people he knew. Even with all of those names he still was the same loving comedian you knew. His love for people and children was shown through his actions, especially when he would have the kids lined up, and march to the store like they were in a marching band, right along with his dogs, He loved children so much he worked with the Boys & Girls Club in the city of Stockton. Along with other various professions, he mainly loved working with the youth. He will be deeply missed as he was such an impactful person in many lives.
He is proceeded in death by his father Marvin Carl Johnson, Stepfather John Henry Eastland, his brother’s Nathan, & Eric Johnson, his niece Kyeisha Eastland, his 1 grandchildren and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is survived by his mother Mary Marchbanks-Alexander, his wife of 22 years Geraldine “LouLou” Eastland, his 11 siblings: Billy (Madelyn) of Modesto, CA. John, Anthony (Janice) Hebert Sr, Hobert Sr (Hilda) of Tulare, CA., Sandra(Robert), Diane, Myra (Dennis) all of Tulare, CA., Kathy Ann of San Diego, CA. Althea of Sacramento, CA. Sabrina of Los Angeles, CA His 10 Children: Edward, Christa, Elvin Jr., Marrietta, Mocha, Tawanna, Natasha, Marvin Carl II, Shardyna, Ashley. His 33 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Elvin “Stoney” Gene Eastland-Johnson Sr. will be truly missed like he would always say “ It’s not goodbye” “It’s see you later” “ONE”
