Obituary
Edward James Shannon, fondly known as “Puggy” was born June 12, 1960 in Tulare CA.
He grew up in the tightly knit Tulare community of Matheny Tract. Edward’s childhood was filled with family, many friends and happy times. Edward always had a watchful eye over and was very protective of his little brother Bobby.
Edward attended Palo Verde Elementary School, Tulare Western High School and Valley High School. Edward had a passion for CB radios; he was a true enthusiast and knew all the lingo associated with the discipline.
After high school, Edward served in the National Guard and the US Army, after which he relocated to San Diego, CA.
Edward was a hardworking man and always took on his tasks with serious determination. While in San Diego he worked various jobs, including a long term position as a Paint Compliance Inspector for Southwest Marine Inc.
Edward was joyful, full of fun and loved to joke around and make others laugh. He loved his family and children. He enjoyed cooking, reading and fishing.
Edward had a very special dog and companion named ‘Bubbles’ who he loved and cared for dearly. Bubbles and Edward were inseparable.
Our hearts ache and we are sad that Puggy will no longer be with us physically. We thank God that he was here and he will be forever in our hearts.
A special thanks and expression of gratitude to our cousin, Lenord Ogans who tirelessly stood by and aided Edward during his illness.
On Sunday evening, April 12, 2020 Edward transitioned from earth to eternity and is now at peace.
Edward’s mother, Maryola Shannon, sister Leona and brothers Michael and David preceded him in death.
Edward leaves to cherish his memories, son Jason and daughter Sasha of Gainesville, FL, daughter Latasha, grandchildren, brothers Rodney (Elneda) Shannon of San Diego, CA and Robert (Bobby) Plunkett of Miami FL., Bubbles and a host of relatives and friends.
