Pastor Donahue Green, Sr. was born to Darneith Green and Orean Watson-Green on March 20, 1946, in Camden Arkansas. He was the fifth child of eleven children born to this union. He attended Lafayette School (1st-12th grades) in Camden, Arkansas and received his diploma in 1964.
Pastor Green was a loving son who adored his mother and often referenced her wonderful cooking in his messages! He was a devoted husband, father, and a great provider for his family. He was married to the love of his life; Yvonne Love Green for 56 years. They enjoyed spending time at Pismo Beach and planting flowers in their garden together. He also enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly called him Papa.
He was known for his southern charm, hospitality, sense of style, and his clean and shiny vehicles. One of his most special cars was his 56 Chevy which got the attention of Hollywood, where they offered to buy it for a movie, but he refused to sell it. He was very particular about his cars. He took good care of them; they were always washed and clean whether he drove them or sat in his garage.
Pastor Green loved people. He never met a stranger. He befriended anyone who accepted his friendship and spoke to anyone who came across his path. People enjoyed seeing him on his daily walks because they knew they were going to get a friendly wave, a kind word, and a gold smile.
Pastor Green was a servant leader and received great joy from helping people. It was his mission and calling in life. He was generous with his time, counsel, and his wisdom. He always saw the best in people. He devoted his life to spreading the gospel of Christ to anyone that would hear, so they would be saved. His amazing love for God clearly helped him know he was called to be a “fisher of men”.
It was his heart’s desire to serve and please the Lord. He not only preached the Word of God but lived the Word he preached. He was truly “a man after God’s own heart”. He loved his family, and they clearly knew he was called to make sacrifices that few would... to help build a larger family – The LCC Family... The Family of God.
Pastor Green was preceded in death by his parents, Darneith Green and Orean Watson-Green; his daughter, Michele L. Green; his siblings, Juanita Green-Reeves and Leotis Green; and his nephew Curtis C. Green, and his great-nephews Fredrick D. Green, Jr. and Cleo C. Green, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sis. Yvonne L. Green of Tulare, CA; his children, Melody Green-Kelley and Donahue Green, Jr.(Michelle) of Tulare, CA; his grandchildren, Kevin E. Kelley, Jr. of Visalia, CA, Austin Patterson of Los Angeles CA, and Kindall M.L. Green of Tulare, CA; his siblings: Cornelius Green, Frank Green (Earlene), Bobbie J. Collins, Willie Jr., Cleotis Green all of Tulare, CA; Lorene Green of Phoenix, AZ; Elaine Johnson (Leonard) of Visalia, CA and Jerry W. Green of Tulare, CA; his adoptive granddaughter, Aeriana R. Lindsay of Clovis, CA and his godchildren Veronica Green of Fresno, CA and Elisabeth M. Goree of Tulare, CA. He also leaves behind a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and the Living Christ Church family.
