Bernadette Martinho-Brewer
On Monday June 12th, Bernadette Martinho-Brewer, beloved wife, and mother, went to be with her Lord at the age of 57. She was born May 21st, 1966, in Tulare, CA to Danny & Dorothy Martinho and was the 4th of 7 children and the youngest of the girls. She had a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from UCLA, her Master of Science in Special Education from National University, and a Preliminary Administrative Credential from Fresno State. She was an RSP Teacher/Special Education Department Chair at Tulare Western High School. She was a teacher in Special Education for 30 years. Bernadette had a strong passion to help each of her students succeed, and cared for them like no other could. She loved to teach, inspire, and lift others up in all that she did in her daily life!
Bernadette was known for her strong spirit and being “larger than life.” She was a cheerleader at Tulare Western High School and College of Sequoias. She was the Cheer Advisor at Tulare Western High School for 8 years. Bernadette was also a Zumba Fitness Instructor at In Shape & Evo in Tulare. She had a love for dance, was great at it, and it was something that she enjoyed throughout her entire life. She was a “ray of light” in dark times, and it was normal for her to be an inspiration to those around her. Bernadette loved others without any expectations from them in return!
Bernadette was married for 11 years and enjoyed a great love story with her husband Henry Brewer. They first met at a mutual friend’s house in 2005. It didn’t take the couple long to figure out that they were a perfect match for each other. Bernadette was the extravert, and Henry the introvert and they complimented each other perfectly. They enjoyed many years of happiness together, even through the struggles she faced while beating cancer for more than 11 years.
Bernadette had an overwhelming love for her family, especially her child Dani. She always made sure the family would get together as often as possible to spend time together. She made every single person, in particular her nephews and nieces, feel special and like they were her “favorite” one in the group. They were all her favorites. Bernadette always told each of them that she was their favorite aunt!
Bernadette is survived by her husband Henry and child Dani. She is also survived by her 6 siblings: Tammy Provence, Patrice Castellanoz, Marian Martinho, Danny Martinho Jr., Brian Martinho, and Manuel Martinho. In addition, she is survived by 23 nephews and nieces and 7 great-nephews and great-nieces. Also, she is survived by 7 sisters-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law. Both her father and mother, Danny & Dorothy Martinho, have gone on to be with the Lord.
To the most beautiful and spirited soul that would never quit, we celebrate your entry into Heaven with God/Jesus and your reunion with all your loved ones that went before you!
