It is with great sadness we are announcing the passing of Alex Angel Garcia. Born July 8th,
1953, he left us surrounded by his friends and family on April 2,2023. Alex is leaving behind his
Love of 16 years Maria Urena and 7 children, Cynthia Garcia White, Tina Garcia Smith,
Alex Garcia, Adam Garcia, Erik Garcia, Gerry Garcia, Gina Garcia, plus many grandchildren
and great grandchildren. Alex was a very proud Marine and was happy to see two of his sons
follow in his footsteps. He was a pillar of the community and shortly after his time in the
Marine Corp came to an end he began coaching youth sports and did so for over 35 years.
Alex coached many sports and thousands of kids including his own and I can honestly say they
were lucky to have had him. Other than coaching one of Alex’s biggest passions was
photography. He has taken countless photos and loved documenting every aspect of his
life and the lives of the people around him. Whether it was a wedding for a friend, his kids
playing roller hockey or an old abandon couch on the side of the road Alex needed to capture
that moment to look back on. At the time we think there just photos not realizing how
important they will become for us but I think he knew. So thank you Dad for all the great
memories and smiles you left behind for us to share. For those of us who had the pleasure of
spending time with Alex and his family know he loved to crack jokes and had to be the
funniest in the room. If he wasn’t telling a corny joke he was talking trash about your football
team because we all know there’s no better team than the Chicago Bears. Alex loved and loved
hard, he didn’t have to express it in words he showed it with action and action is what counts.
There are no words to express how much he will be missed by everyone that knew him he was
truly a loved and well respected man. “Dad your footsteps can never be filled, nor your love ever
forgotten, rest in peace.”
